The artist is a pioneer of artisan urns in Quebec. She offers us two firing techniques: gas firing and raku firing. This lesser-known technique is a pottery firing technique of Japanese origin formerly used during the Tea Ceremony, whose ritual was closely linked to Zen philosophy. The pieces taken from the kiln are placed in the earth and covered with materials such as straw or sawdust, and are closed with a lid to obtain the smoking, which will give a different result for each piece.
